Jan De Vylder, Inge Vinck, Jo Taillieu, Architecten de Vylder Vinck Taillieu bvba,
Flanders, Belgium

Jan de Vylder and Jo Taillieu are partners in Architecten de Vylder Vinck Taillieu bvba. After an extensive architectural journey of graduation and working with different partners, Jan de Vylder and Jo Taillieu formed Vylder Vinck Taillieu with a third partner, Inge Vinck. Vylder Vinck Taillieu is associated with understated and subtle style of architecture that starts from the basic needs and requirements, and evolves its aesthetics from different contexts. They have never strived for a signature architectural style in their work. Their designs are motivated by practicality and constraints, and often bring out the beauty and potential of what they find in the surroundings. The strength of their work lies in their process. A wide range of ideas are formed during the on-site process, inspired by found objects and emerge through interactions and discussions with contractors. Strings of presentation drawings from easily available materials is put together with objects such as red and blue Bic Biro pens on grid paper, felt-tip pen and paper cut outs, and are backed with formal engineering drawings, elevations and details. Their projects could be seen as possible interferences, with carefully orchestrated relationships along with receptiveness and well communicated ideas.
