Jenni Reuter, Hollmén Reuter Sandman Architects, Finland

With the belief that her projects are complete only when they are complemented with their user’s active presence, Finnish architect Jenni Reuter works within the realm of urban planning, building design, exhibition design and graphic design. Leading her to the use of unusual and unexpected building materials such as straw bales and recycled building parts, her practice, Jenni Reuter Architects, considers innovation and investigation in the architectural field as crucial to its development. With the aim of using architecture to mitigate poverty, socially conscious Jenni Reuter Architects is actively involved with Finnish NGO Ukumbi, which has undertaken several development cooperation projects in the African countries. Ukumbi offers ecologically sustainable architectural planning and design to underprivileged groups, influencing and empowering communities. Jenni Reuters believes that instead of waiting for commissions, architects can tackle social issues and initiate processes, in keeping with the ethical dimension of the profession, with creative thinking and enterprise.
